So tomorrow the new Apple iPhone is scheduled to arrive in stores, but today was all about the Verizon/Motorola Droid X

The newest member of the Droid family looks great and is the biggest and fastest droid yet.

Money is going Mobile!

We all made the move from Cash to checks to credit card to debit cards and it look like we are ready to start spending our cash via a mobile devises! no need to carry any cards, just carry your phone and you can buy anything. Mobile purchase has been around for a long time and when I talk about mobile payment I’m talking about people buy things on their phone, within a mobile application, with their phone number, using their physical handset, when they pay bills from their phone or when they split a tab via text message. All of it is mobile payment.

The mobile payment industry is about to find it’s pay day – it’s estimated that mobile payment will jump over 800%. In 2009 mobile pay companies processed 68.7 billion dollars by 2014 the industry is looking at processing 633.4 billion, not a bad return on investment if you ask me.

So are you ready for the mobile payment world? It’s coming, don’t you think you should start to get ready now, why wait to turn away that first customer who wants to pay with their smartphone.

Sold Out!

On June 4th, I spoke about how excited I was to see the new EVO 4G – Today it was announced the phone is sold out across the United States and there is no date on when the next shipment will make it to shore.

The HTC EVO 4G is also holding up nicely to the newly release iPhone4. Especially in the price department, the EVO 4G is $100.00 less!

In the end HTC and Sprint are the winner; procrastinators and maybe Apple are the losers!

The New iPhone leaves me flat

Apple surprised us all and introduced a new iPhone yesterday, haha. Ok, so it wasn’t a surprise and really it appears they are just trying to keep pace with other phones on the market.

As I see it, I will be getting the incredible, although I would love to have a front facing camera for video call. I will never go to AT&T and have little interest in moving to a 2nd tier provider like Sprint.

HTC presents the EVO 4G

HTC put it’s new EVO 4G phone on sale today. This phone just maybe the thing to Sprint on the map, it’s very impressive. It may even give the iPhone a run for it’s money – granted not by the number of users, but features!

Yelp and Restaurant Reservations?

Yelp announced it will integrate a self-service, online restaurant reservation system called OpenTable.

While the all-in-one functionality will reduce the number of clicks between searching and eating. I’ve used Opentable and liked it a great deal, but I’m not a big fan of Yelp, so I will continue to make the clicks. Actually, I won’t because I don’t use Yelp!

If you do use Yelp you will still be able to see reviews, ratings, price and other information on Restaurants, , but now you’ll be able to choose the restaurant by checking availability and making a reservation. No longer with you have to bring up OpenTable to make a reservcation . Yelp users won’t need an OpenTable account to the feature, either.

Current OpenTable users will receive OpenTable points when making a reservation with Yelp as long as the same e-mail address is used for both accounts.

Yelp said by email “This feature is something that our users have been asking us for, and we’re happy to oblige” I don’t doubt the users wanting it on Yelp, but do wonder if the Restaurants want to be associated with Yelp in that way?

Will Yelp’s integration of OpenTable make you use Yelp more often? After all a third of all business listed are restaurant with over 11 million reviews.

Got an iPad?

2 million people have a iPad tablet and it’s only been on sale for 2 months! That’s a million iPad’s a month – where are the tablets? where is HP, Dell, Sony and alike?

I want options, where are my options on tablets damn it!

If someone doesn’t come into this space with something new to rival the iPad I just might end up with one in my home. Haha not that I’ve never purchase an Apple product, but I like choice and right now I have no choice, but and iPad.

Even if you buy the iPad, don’t you at least want a choice?

What does a million checkins look like?

Foursquare announced, via Twitter, they are processing 10+ checkins per second – that’s over 850,000 checkins per day.

WOW, I love foursquare and use it all the time, but 10+ checkins a second – I’m just not doing that much stuff in a day meaning the have great utilization from users – something we all strive for. Just think what will happen when business start learning how to capitalize on using foursquare themselves! The almost a million mark will seem like a distant memory.

Have a great holiday weekend

I want to take a moment to wish everyone a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend – Like all Holiday weekends there is something to celebrate and this weekend is no exception.

Memorial Day is the day our Nations has set aside to honor our military service members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice so the rest of us live freely in this great land.

My brother is an active member in the Army and my sister-in-law, his wife just retired last year. I’m fortunate, I haven’t lost a love one in war, but other families are not to lucky. We honor their children, parents and love one this weekend – so celebrate knowing it wouldn’t be possible with out their willingness to die for you.

Typical AT&T Money Grab

AT&T announced a new ETF (early termination fee) for the iPhone – $325

This is just another reason why I will not own an iPhone as long as they stay exclusive with AT&T.

I’m not even going to talk about the coverage and dropped service issues.
